GB038 Very Rare Great Britain 1898-B Trade Dollar Mint Error - Reverse Brockage with Struck 10% Off-Center PCGS AU55, KM-T5, Prid-6. Very rare error from this series, I only know one more brockage exits; one is this coin and the other is PCGS XF 40, no off-center but only brockage. The brockage of this coin appears in a very dynamic manner off-center from the flan. Nice colorful patina. A piece that will be sought after by both error collectors and Trade Dollar enthusiasts. A unique addition to any collection, and one not likely to be encountered again.

The British Trade Dollar was a form of bullion coinage issued by the United Kingdom and intended to facilitate foreign trade in East Asia. In 1895, the British Trade Dollar was given legal status in the British colonies of Straits Settlements, Hong Kong and Labuan. Its circulation in the Straits Settlements and Labuan was of short duration; after the Straits Settlements introduced their own Straits Dollar in 1903, the British Trade dollar was demonetized there in 1904 and 1905 respectively. It became exclusively a Hong Kong coin produced until 1935. Thus, it was known as a Hong Kong Dollar for most of its existence and was only legal tender in that colony for most of the time. The British Trade Dollar was finally demonetized in Hong Kong on 1 August 1937.
