George Best is the debut studio album by The Wedding Present. Named with the permission of football legend George Best, it is widely regarded as one of the defining British indie albums of the late 1980s, blending rapid-fire jangly guitars with David Gedge's sharply observed songs about relationships.

More to the point what a fantastic cover....a must for all Manchester United fans surely!

Legacy

George Best established The Wedding Present as one of the leading UK indie bands of the C86 era. The album was later expanded as George Best +9, adding the band's 1988 singles and B-sides, and in 2017 the band released George Best 30, a complete re-recording made with engineer Steve Albini to celebrate the album's 30th anniversary.
