Vintage pair of hand carved wooden duck decoys decorative pieces.  Overall length of each from tail end to end of beaks is about 11 inches.  Height to top of head is about 6 1/2 inches. 

Each are carved from very dry native New England white pine.  What looks to be black spotting on one are natural holes in the wood.  I believe they were carved by a New Hampshire farmer as a wintertime project to be used as decoys or perhaps as a gift to his wife as a decorative Christmas gift.  I rather doubt he ever carved and painted more than these two.  Considering they were probably carved by a gifted amateur, they are well done and look quite realistic!
