WWII Japanese Army Officer Sword Mounts / Long Gunto Koshirae with Display Blade
This is a WWII Japanese Army officer-style sword mounting / gunto koshirae.
The original steel blade was removed after the war, and a later non-ferrous alloy display blade has been fitted for display purposes. The blade is not magnetic and is not a traditional Japanese sword blade. It is being sold as a sword mounting with display blade only.
The mounting is a standard simplified Army officer style, with a wooden scabbard covered in brown leather and a single suspension ring. The handle is wooden with ray-skin wrap, brown cord wrapping, and triple cherry blossom menuki. The guard and fittings are standard military-style cast fittings.
This is a longer-than-usual example and has a strong display presence.

Condition:
Good overall condition for its age.
The leather scabbard cover has surface rubbing, scuffs, and age-related wear. The handle cord has some darkening and signs of age. The fittings show tarnish and wear. The sarute loop is missing.
The display blade fits tightly in the handle. Even after removing the mekugi peg, the blade could not be removed, so it is being sold as-is.
