This is the earliest commercial box I've been able to find of the .45 S&W (Schofield) cartridge. After it's adoption by the army in 1875, it was largely a Government cartridge, however by 1876-77 Winchester was offering this box. I have only found one example of this box - though there are likely a few more out there, but it bears all the hallmarks of the typical Winchester box for this two year date range. As evidenced by the attached image of the original box, at some point, someone stamped "SCHOFIELD" on the original box, however I have chosen not to include that and only reproduce it as it shipped from the factory.
All of the boxes I've recreated date to the 1860's - 1890's and are what collectors now, for obvious reasons, refer to as "picture boxes." These are not photocopies or printed from pictures I've Googled. These are high resolution, digital recreations. I have included a picture of the original box for comparison.
Buyer pays fixed shipping.
Let me know if you have questions or need further pictures. Auction is for one box.
****UPDATE**** Due to the fluctuation in chipboard availability I'm being forced to limit my stock and make most cartridges boxes to order. Because of this, I'm having to extend my handling time to 5 days instead of 3. HOWEVER, most orders will continue to ship with in 1-3 days. But larger orders with multiple boxes may take 4-5 days. I will try to keep some of the better sellers on hand, but the availability of materials will ultimately determine what can be stocked. Thank you for your patience and don't hesitate to contact me if you need something quickly.
