This box is a reproduction of Winchester's very first offering of the .44 WCF. This first box box was produced only in 1873 and replaced the next year by the green 2nd pattern label. This image of the cartridge seems to show a primer which has already been struck, however it actually depicts the Millbank primers which were originally used in this cartridge. There are less than five of these original boxes known to still exist.
This box represents the culmination of MANY hours of research and digital reproduction. With so few extant originals and because of the very ornate design, this box has taken an incredible amount of time to reproduce faithfully with a high quality print - which is why this is the only reproduction of this box available.
All of the boxes I've recreated all date from the 1860's to the 1890's and are what collectors now, for obvious reasons, refer to as "picture boxes." These are not photocopies or printed from pictures I've Googled. These are high resolution, digital recreations and are professionally printed.
The reproduction box is, of course empty, and there is no reloading label on the interior.
Buyer pays fixed shipping.
Let me know if you have questions or need further pictures. Auction is for one box.
****UPDATE**** Due to the fluctuation in chipboard availability I'm being forced to limit my stock and make most cartridges boxes to order. Because of this, I'm having to extend my handling time to 5 days instead of 3. HOWEVER, most orders will continue to ship with in 1-3 days. But larger orders with multiple boxes may take 4-5 days. I will try to keep some of the better sellers on hand, but the availability of materials will ultimately determine what can be stocked. Thank you for your patience and don't hesitate to contact me if you need something quickly.
