This is a reproduction of what is likely the earliest box of .38 S&W commercially available.  Originally made by the US Cartridge Company specifically for Smith and Wesson, this box dates to 1876 and features the S&W Model #2 - or Baby Russian on the label.  The caliber - listed as 36/38 - refers to the .38 S&W which is technically closer to a 36 than 38, and at the time, caliber/cartridge nomenclature was in its infancy. The reproduction box is, of course, empty.

All of the boxes I've recreated all date from the 1860's - 1890's and are what collectors now, for obvious reasons, refer to as "picture boxes." These are not photocopies or printed from pictures I've Googled. These are high resolution, digital recreations. I have attached a picture of an original box for comparison.

Buyer pays fixed shipping.

Let me know if you have questions or need further pictures. Auction is for one box.

****UPDATE****  Due to the fluctuation in chipboard availability I'm being forced to limit my stock and make most cartridges boxes to order.   Because of this, I'm having to extend my handling time to 5 days instead of 3.   HOWEVER, most orders will continue to ship with in 1-3 days.  But larger orders with multiple boxes may take 4-5 days.  I will try to keep some of the better sellers on hand, but the availability of materials will ultimately determine what can be stocked.  Thank you for your patience and don't hesitate to contact me if you need something quickly.
