An attractive early nineteenth-century edition of George Burder's celebrated biblical history, bringing together a comprehensive narrative of the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. The work also covers the approximately four hundred years between the Old and New Testaments, together with the life of Christ, the ministry of the Apostles, and includes extensive critical, explanatory, practical, and devotional notes throughout. The edition is further enhanced with numerous engraved illustrations.

George Burder (1752–1832) was a respected English Congregational minister, preacher, and religious author, best known for his devotional writings and biblical commentaries. His works were widely read throughout the nineteenth century for both family worship and private study.

Boards rubbed; wear to extremities; leather loss at spine ends; all intact and working well though hinges weakening; text-blocks-firm; leaves secure; leaves very clean apart from the occasional spot. Damp stained at some point -more so to volumes 1 & 2 (from lower margin). Worm-hole present from p. 351 - 360 of volume 2 (lower-margin), and p.119-168 of volume 3 (inner edge over text). An early nineteenth-century set with the expected age-related wear consistent with books over 200 years old.
