Orvis Vortex 5/6 large arbor fly reel in gold finish.

This is a high-grade Orvis large arbor reel from around 25 years ago. The Vortex series was built as a strong, high-performance reel with a powerful disc drag system. It uses a Rulon synthetic drag plate rather than cork, giving the reel a strong and smooth braking system.

This 5/6 size is less commonly seen than the larger Vortex models and is suitable for trout, stillwater, light salmon/steelhead, and other situations where a strong drag and fast line pickup are useful.

The reel is in excellent lightly used condition.
There are no noticeable scratches, paint loss, or heavy wear on the reel body.
Only a very light line-shaped rub mark can be seen on the inside of the reel foot, as shown in the photos.

The drag works properly and strongly.
The inside is very clean.
