Days of Revival - History of Methodism in IrelandBy C. H. Crookshank
For more than one hundred years Crookshank's History of Methodism in Ireland has been considered a classic work of church history. Written in a style that warms the heart, it follows the expansion of Methodism in Ireland from the first visit of Wesley in 1747 until the great revival of 1859. It contains accounts of individual conversions, cameos of the early Methodism preachers and their open-air preaching, as well as graphic records of the opposition faced by the believers. Long out of print, this edition has been republished in six volumes by a group of Christians engaged in pioneer evangelism in the Irish Republic. Possibly no other book gives such an inspiring account of an era of Irish church history.
"We bear the torch that flaming
Fell from the hands of those
Who gave their lives proclaiming
That Jesus died and rose.
Ours is the same commission,
The same glad message ours,
Fired by the same ambition,
To Thee we yield our powers." - Frank Houghton (1897-1972)
