A charming complete set of 17 vintage Soviet matchbox label cards (spichechnaya etiketka) with a football theme, almost certainly produced to commemorate the USSR's victory in the inaugural 1960 European Nations' Cup (now known as the UEFA European Championship), where the Soviet team beat Yugoslavia 2-1 in the final.

The set includes 16 brightly coloured action cards depicting footballers in red and white/blue kits, and one larger card featuring the trophy — a stylised depiction of the original Henri Delaunay Cup, the trophy awarded to the first European Champions.

Classic mid-century Soviet graphic design, bold flat colours typical of matchbox label art of the period. A lovely little collection for anyone interested in Soviet ephemera, vintage football memorabilia, or European Championship history. They would look great framed.
