Elegantly bound in its original full crimson leather binding with raised bands, ornate gilt tooling, marbled endpapers and All Edges Gilt (AEG), this handsome Edwardian volume combines outstanding decorative appeal with one of history's greatest medieval chronicles.
Its most significant feature is its documented provenance.
The book retains its original Royal Masonic School presentation bookplate awarded at Midsummer 1913 to J. C. Vince for Cambridge Locals (Senior) through The Winn Fund, signed by Head Master Harry Hebb.
Presented during the final year of peace before the outbreak of the First World War, this volume represents a genuine piece of pre-war British educational history, giving it historical significance beyond that of a standard trade edition.
Translated by John Bourchier, Lord Berners and edited by G. C. Macaulay, this Macmillan Globe Edition remains one of the most respected English editions of Froissart's famous chronicles.

With the exception of the leather loss at the head of the spine, this is an exceptionally well-preserved example.
The interior is outstanding, with remarkably clean, crisp pages, strong typography throughout, beautiful marbled endpapers, original All Edges Gilt (AEG), and a firm, structurally sound binding.
The leather binding displays honest age-related wear expected of a treasured antique volume.
Please note:
• Loss of leather at the head of the spine.
• General rubbing to edges and corners.
• Light scuffs to the leather boards.
• A faint surface mark remains where an old price label was carefully removed from the rear board.
