Vintage Italian Pewter & Bronze Chess Set with Handcrafted Mahogany & White Maple Chess Board

Beautiful vintage Italian chess set featuring substantial Italian pewter and bronze chess pieces paired with a handmade solid mahogany and white maple chess board. Together, the complete set weighs approximately 16 pounds before packing, giving it an impressive feel for both play and display. According to the craftsman who handcrafted the board, the Italian-made chess pieces are pewter and bronze. The pieces retain their original red and gold "Made in Italy" manufacturer labels on the felted bases. Based on the labels and the design of the pieces, they closely resemble vintage high-quality Italian chess sets, although I have not been able to verify the original manufacturer.

Overall, this is a beautiful vintage chess set that displays exceptionally well.

The handcrafted board is in very good vintage condition with light surface wear and minor scratches consistent with age and normal use. The metal chessmen retain an attractive vintage finish with expected light wear. Two of the bronze pieces have small, stable areas of green patina (verdigris) consistent with age - see last photo.
