I had this listed under video games consoles as the fees are almost half that of the vintage computing desktop and mainframes catagory... but i wasn't getting many people seeing it as a result. So, I've reluctantly moved it back.

800XL fully socketed Hong Kong made PAL 8bit home computer. Fully socketed makes for a much easier system to maintain where we are talking vintage computers. Also, the build quality of the Hong Kong made socketed boards has always been seen as solid, especially where compared to the later XE model motherboards.

Chroma colour hooked up and microswitch installed in venting.

Basically all stock Atari 800XL units left the factory in the 80's with a missing chroma (colour) signal. For rf or av composite connections this was never an issue, but if you wanted to using a din5 to s-video cable on these for a better image output, you would get a black and white/grayscale image. 

I've hooked up the chroma on this 800xl.

Also, there is a microswitch in the to right casing venting which, when using an s-video cable (not included), can be toggled to stop the interferance you get from the composite signal. It means a much cleaner/crisper image.

As stated, this comes with an av to composite video cable, so won't make any difference when using just the latter.

800XL fully socketed Hong Kong made PAL 8bit home computer with chroma connected/Microswitch installed. Casing is a little discoloured from age and has some marks. Keyboard is fully tested. All ports working. Comes with New USB power cable (UK mains adapter is not included), new AV composite cable, Cheetah 125+ joystick,  and 1 x of my new Atarimax Maxflash cart (8mbit, (1MB)), included with Bubble Bobble, (2024 port)
(Latter requires a usb adapter 5v 2amp minimum - not included). 3 x original manuals. See pics and video. See main description for details

*Atarimax maxflash carts are great. They can be reused and reflashed, you can create multigame menus on them, and for games that support it, you can save score, progress, etc etc. Note: to flash them you need a special Atarimax maxflash cart flasher/programmer, the maxflash studio software and a PC. Or, if a game supports it, you can actually use you Atari and an SIO2PCUSB to flash them, (for example the game Flob: https://bocianu.atari.pl/blog/flob uses Sio2pcusb, your PC and th Atari itself to flash the game to the cart. Flob is a great game and you can save progress, achievements, scores, unlocked worlds, etc to the cart). 

Cart flasher/programmer unit not included in this sale.

The Atari 8-bit scene is very much alive

It's a great time to be on the Atari 8 bit scene. New games are coming out all the time, from completely original ones to ports we never thought we'd see on the Atari 8--bit platform.

We have a port of the Great Giana sisters just been announced as in the pipeline, not to menton Golden Axe, as well as having seen the amazing Atari 8 bit port of Street Fighter II released in the last few months. Barbarian also,  Bubble Bobble, and many others.
