Native Seri Ironwood Sea Lion Sculpture
Ironwood is an notoriously hard variety of wood that grows in the Sonoran desert of the southwest; it is extremely difficult to carve, hence the name! When polished, it displays beautiful reddish brown patterns that make all that effort worthwhile. Ironwood animal figurines, like this sea lion, are made in Sonora, Mexico for sale to tourists. This sculpture has a high polish that shows off the gorgeous woodgrain. It measures approx 1.75” H x 5” L x1.25” D. Unsigned. Sea Lions are found along the coastline of Sonora, in both the Pacific Ocean & the Sea of Cortez. This would make an interesting accent to your beach house decor!
Very Good Condition. There is some light distressing that is truly not noticeable.
