This is an Antique LONG SLIP from the early 1800’s. The top layer is a warm copper colored translucent mesh fabric that is possibly horsehair, or silk. It is shiny and a beautiful color. The under layer appears to be a coated cotton, as is the waistband. Bottom silk ruffle. The slip has been shortened, but could be reversed to longer length adding a couple of inches. Six pleats in the back suggest space for a bustle. No closure on waistband. Has some splits in top layer and several holes in bottom ruffle. Waist is 26”, length is 37” (shortened).
