Edwardian Cut Glass Scent Bottle Sterling Silver Lid Birmingham 1903 +Stopper

DESCRIPTION

Antique Edwardian cut glass perfume/scent bottle with a sterling silver screw cap, hallmarked for Birmingham 1903.

The square, tapering body is hand-cut in a hobnail/diamond pattern and fitted with a separate ground-glass stopper that seals the contents, with the hallmarked sterling silver cap screwing down over the top. Bottles like this sat on a Victorian/Edwardian dressing table or travelled in a fitted vanity case, used for perfume, cologne or smelling salts.

The silver cap carries a clear set of British hallmarks: the Birmingham anchor, the lion passant for sterling .925, and the date letter "D" for 1903. The maker's mark is present but too worn to read.
