A spooky cabin in the wood but look closely and there be spirits haunting this place! The spirit of a girl would be staring directly at you and next to her is a young mother or maybe older sister protecting her from two hovering spirits nearby - maybe an evil mother and father! What ghastly things occurred at this isolated old homestead in the woods!? 

The above is just a story. This is an image that gives us an opportunity to be creative in many fun ways. Such an idyllic macabre location and a gift to an imaginative mind. 

This could be a very lucky double exposure or some darkroom trickery or maybe both? If this was an attempt at creating spirit photography, not only was it incredibly inventive to have all the human subjects be ghostly spirits haunting a creepy cabin in the woods; it was also a brave attempt to try this effect outdoors and in daylight. Very unique and quite successful. 

There is clearly some double exposure easily seen with the tree inside the cabin, but this would be some crazy luck for this to be just an accidental double exposure. It could also be a little bit of luck and clever manipulation. I'll leave more speculation for you to have fun with. 

I don't know the location, who took the photo or exactly when but, the back design of the RPPC suggests between 1908-1914. 

Great condition - a few small spots of staining on the front near the right edge, edges and corners show some wear. There are a few black blobs, spots and lines on the photo, but these are within the photograph and are not postcard blemishes. All of the above are rather minor and don't distract from the great content.
