In the spotlight for your bidding consideration is this ALEUT HUNTER IN BAIDARKA by renowned native Alaskan artist Peter A. Lind Jr. This intricate study in miniature comes with a certificate that explains the use of all the local materials used to create this small piece of detailed art. The certificate is hand signed by the artist. This artist’s works are held in private collections, as well as being on display in several galleries and museums, including the Smithsonian. Measuring just under 12” long, the hand carved cedar BAIDARKA holds the soapstone carved Aleut hunter doll and all his trappings. Each little piece made of native materials outlined in the certificate is a miniature replica of the tools used in a long sea journey to catch fish. This handsome example still retains its identifying hang tag which guarantees this piece as an AUTHENTIC NATIVE AMERICAN HANDICRAFT FROM ALASKA. It is signed on the bottom of the vessel with Peter A. Lind, Jr. There is some wear to the lacquered finish on the deck of the boat, as photographed, and some dark spots on the seal gut buoy. The piece is in otherwise very good condition!

The last picture shows an additional piece from this artist—a shadow box of miniature Aleut hunting gear. While not included here, it can be seen in a separate listing.
