This listing is for one souvenir plate. The front features a beautiful blue and white transferware design showing the State Capitol building in Tallahassee, Florida, framed by an ornate floral border.
The back states this is "Old English Staffordshire Ware," made in Staffordshire, England by The Adams Potteries (Est. 1657) and imported by Jonroth England. It was specifically commissioned and imported for the House of Gifts in Tallahassee, Florida. The House of Gifts was a prominent local shop located at 209 South Adams Street, advertising itself in the mid-20th century as "Tallahassee's Largest and Finest Gift and Card Shop." Jonroth (John H. Roth & Co.) was a major American importer of English commemorative wares, which helps date this specific piece to approximately the 1950s or 1960s.
This is a smaller souvenir plate, about the size of a bread plate and measures 7'' wide.
This is a previously owned item in good overall condition. No chips or cracks. Both sides of the plate do show crazing. The base displays light age/shelf wear. Please click on the images for more information and to help with your decision.
