Vintage custom-built tube communications receiver from an Estate.

We are offering what appears to be a Custom-built communications receiver using Miller permeability-tuned IF transformers, mechanical filter, Stancor transformers, Mallory, RCA, and GE.

The receiver has been cleaned externally and internally enough to document major components and tube types. It has not been powered or functionally tested and is being sold as-is for restoration, study, display, parts, or collector use.

Notable components observed:

• Miller 1312-C2 Permeability Tuned IF Transformers (450-475 KC) - There are 2 of these

• Miller No. 1727 455 KC B.F.O.

• Mechanical Filter MF-455-10AZ27

• Stancor A-53-C Interstage Transformer

• 24S51 Transformer

• 24R74 Power Transformer

• Mallory Type FP multi-section capacitor

Tube Testing

Tubes were tested using a Sencore TC162 Tube Tester.

For tubes listed in the Sencore tube data, the following tests were performed:

• Shorts test

• Emission test

• Grid leakage test

• Life test

All tested tubes passed shorts and grid leakage testing, and successfully passed the life test. Emission readings recorded during testing ranged approximately from 80% to 95% on the tester scale.

Recorded results include:

• RCA 7360 – approximately 92%

• GE 6CG7 – approximately 80%

• GE 6BA6 / EF93 – approximately 92-95%

• GE 6AL5 – approximately 95%

• GE 6T9 – approximately 93%

• HK 6AN8 – approximately 95%

Additional tubes present include:

• GE 6D10 Compactron

• GE 0B2 Voltage Regulator

The 6D10 and 0B2 were not listed in the available Sencore tube data and therefore were not fully evaluated.

Tube test results are provided as a courtesy only and should not be considered a guarantee of future performance.

The receiver is believed to be a custom/homebrew build and no schematic or documentation is included.

Another note: The glass for the dial is in 2 pieces and both were floating in there. I hope this is OK, what I did was take the rim off, cleaned everything, re-secured the clips on the inside and then applied a small amount of hot glue to secure the glass as the clips alone were not doing the trick at all. It is done discretely and the nature of the glue is that it is secure but can be taken off to replace the glass if desired.
