Description: Presented is a large and heavy bust statue made of cast bronze, well-patinated, presumably of German origin, made in the late 1800s-early 1900s
The statue represents a bust portrait of an old sailor. I don't know if this is a portrait of a real man or a generalized character of an old sailor. The image the statue creates is of a weather-bitten, stern man in his sixties, probably a captain of a small ship, with piercing eyes, a bushy skipper's beard, and a tobacco pipe at the corner of his mouth. His hair seems to be messed by an ocean wind. Great character, very recognizable and convincing.
Made of cast bronze with nice natural patina, large and very heavy - it weighs 27 lb. No marks.
The height is 11.5" with 11" length and 7" width. 27 lb of pure bronze!
The statue is in excellent condition with no breaks, overoxidized spots, or patina wear.
With this weight and the necessity to pack such a heavy object properly, the shipping charge is quite large, sorry
