Up for sale is an authentic, original 1964–1965 Maryland World's Fair / Francis Scott Key Souvenir Half Dollar. This historic piece of mid-century exonumia was issued by the Maryland World's Fair Commission to celebrate the state's participation in the iconic New York World's Fair and to mark the 150th anniversary of the writing of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Design Details:

• Obverse (Front): Features the American Flag proudly hoisted, with a historic depiction of a ship bombarding Fort McHenry in the background. Inscriptions read: "THE MARYLAND WORLD'S FAIR COMMISSION ~ 1964-1965", "150th Anniversary", and "THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER (1814-1964)".
• Reverse (Back): Depicts the actual historical monument and grave site of Francis Scott Key located in Frederick, Maryland.
