Original WWII Imperial Japanese Army Type 90 steel helmet shell.

This example retains its original front star insignia and approximately 10% of the original factory paint. The helmet has developed an attractive dark aged patina over decades of storage, with mostly dark surface oxidation and relatively little active red rust.

The original star badge remains firmly attached. One retaining prong behind the star is broken, but the insignia remains secure in place.

The original chinstrap is no longer present, however a portion of the rare original suspension strap remains attached inside the shell. One end of the strap has been torn.

The split ring for the rear chinstrap attachment is missing.

Inside the rear skirt is a star-shaped manufacturer's mark attributed to Daito Seiko (present-day Daido Steel), one of the wartime suppliers of Type 90 helmets.
