This proficiency badge was awarded to artillery personnel who qualified in aiming and fire-control duties. The design features crossed artillery aiming instruments over a stylized cherry blossom.
The original wooden storage box is included and retains the inscription for the Field Artillery Aiming Badge. Interior markings include the stamp of Kobayashi Matashichi Shoten, a military outfitter and supplier of the period.
