A great rarity! Valuable as a collector's item! I am offering a functional, chrome-plated, first, post-war model of the East German watch GUB - Glashütte Q1, still with the original wartime A. Lange & Söhne movement, caliber 28.1 with stones in gold chatons. These movements had the very first GUB watches even before the Stalinist regime in East Germany banned the use of anything from Germany's capitalist heritage in watches. Only a few watches of this type were made. The watch is fully functional. The crystal is new. The retro strap is new. See the photo for condition. The diameter of the watch is 33 mm.

A LITTLE HISTORY:
The Glashutter Uhrenbetriebe (GUB) was formed in 1951 as a fusion of a number of nationalised watch, clock and instrument companies from in and around Glashutte, near the Czech border south of Dresden. As with other state-owned conglomerates in East Germany, the Glashutter Uhrenbetrieb was a "Volkseigene Betrieb" (VEB) which translates more or less a "People's Company".
The companies combined into GUB included VEB Mechanik Lange & Sohne (which was the nationalised A. Lange & Sohne) and VEB Messtechnik (which was the nationalised Muhle & Sohn).
After the market introduction of the caliber 60.1 with an indirect central second, this caliber was also used to manufacture a quality maneuver with the quality mark Q in fine perfection. In addition to the quality gauges calibers 28, 28.1 and 60.2, from the middle of the 1950s onwards, the fourth generation of Glashütter watchmaking equipment was available with the caliber 60.3.e.
