- Upper Mask: Made of solid iron with a black finish, covering the cheeks and chin.
- Throat Guard (Tare): Consists of a 4-tier defensive guard made of hardened leather (Neri-kawa) for mobility, bound together with traditional dark lacing (Odoshi-ge).

The interior of the iron mask and the throat guard plates feature a stunning, vibrant traditional Japanese red/vermilion lacquer (Shu-urushi) finish, which remains remarkably well-preserved.
