YEATS, W. B. [William Butler] (1865-1939). Poems. London: T. Fisher Unwin 1912. 3rd Edition, 3rd Impression [This collection of poems was originally published in 1895. This is sometimes described as the 6th Edition, but is indeed the 3rd impression of the 3rd edition - the preface to the 3rd edition is printed prior to the contents page]. 8vo (214x150mm), xv, 322pp, [1]. Good. Original dark blue cloth binding with extensive and beautiful gold gilt ‘rose cross’ decoration on the front board, spine and rear board. Page edges uncut. Portrait of the author opposite the title page with a protective sheet which has been added by a previous owner. This very striking book is in good condition with some fading to the decoration on the front board. There is a looseness to the spine, but this is a non-structural issue. Small tear at the top of the binding on the spine and knocks at the base. Fading on a spot on the rear board. Rubbing along the long edges of the spine. Internally this copy is in excellent condition, there is a discolouring on the front free endpage and very occasional instances of spotting, but this is an unusually clean copy internally. Textblock is true and square. Signed on the front free endpage ‘Frank Turner from The Ro[?]lettes’
