The atoms and Bromley Pottery of Hanley, Staffordshire, England operating during the last quarter of the 19th century was known to have produced many beautiful patterns of majolica pottery popular at this time in history. One such design was the firms rendition of the begonia leaf pattern already produced by several other English as well as American firms. This motif was produced in plates and footed examples such as cake stands and compotes. This particular example in earth tone hues has the entire top surface encompassed by the leaf. The stand measures 2 3/4” tall and approximately 9 1/2” diameter across the plate portion. I have included a picture of a sizable chip on the back side rim near the stem of the leaf as well as a one inch tight hairline visible on both the back and front sides almost opposite the aforementioned chip. Fortunately these issues do not significantly detract from the beauty when displayed. Due to the issues, however, I will be listing this in the “buy it now“ format at a price significantly lower than a similar item in factory original condition. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description.
Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future.
