A 48-star United States flag:
* 3-1/2' X 7' (more closely, about 3'3" by 6'9")
* made of bunting, apparently cotton (see the pictures for a close-up)
* Sewn-on cloth stars on both sides
* Reinforced stitching in the header
* Double stitching between the stripes
* Reinforcing fabric squares at upper and lower left
* Plastic grommets
* No stamp or tag in the header
The flag's construction and materials make it more
likely that this flag is a reproduction (made after 48-star
flags would have been flown) though it is not certain.
There is significant brown staining across the flag's
white stripes, most prominent towards the fly end;
please see the pictures.
