Large antique Satsuma vase from the Kusube workshop (Kyoto), dating to around 1910–1920 (late Meiji–early Taishō period).
The vase is richly decorated with a detailed aristocratic female figure in ceremonial attire, accompanied by a heavenly dragon (Ryū) — a traditional symbol of protection, strength, and wisdom.
This combination of a noble female figure and a guardian dragon is a characteristic artistic motif of early-20th-century Kyoto Satsuma export ware.
The craftsmanship is highly refined, with generous use of gilt moriage, precise hand-painted details, and strong contrasts between matte black ground and cobalt-blue floral borders.
The red signature on the base corresponds to documented Kusube (楠部) workshop marks.
Please review all photos carefully; they form an important part of the description.
The vase will be securely and professionally packed with protective materials.
