Rare 1925 American Medical Association (AMA) MD physician car badge, number 59024. This is a genuine antique brass and enamel automobile grille badge issued by the American Medical Association, Chicago, Illinois, copyright dated 1925 on the reverse.
The front features a striking design with green and white enamel panels arranged in a cross pattern on a circular brass disc, with a central red enamel medallion displaying the gold raised letters 'M' and 'D' flanking a gold caduceus (snake and staff symbol). The member number 59024 is stamped in a green enamel panel at the bottom.
The reverse is cast brass and clearly reads 'BY AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION CHICAGO ILL' with a copyright 1925 mark. The manufacturer appears to be a Rochester, NY company (partially legible). The badge has a central mounting post/stud on the reverse and two small mounting holes on the outer rim for attaching to a vehicle radiator grille or bumper.
Condition: Very good antique condition. Enamel is largely intact with some minor crazing/cloudiness to the white enamel panels consistent with age. Brass shows patina. A highly desirable piece of early 20th century Americana and medical collectible history. Hard to find with this level of enamel preservation.
Dimensions: Approximately 3.5 inches (89mm) in diameter.
What's included: The badge only. Ships securely packaged with bubble wrap and a rigid box.
