The Navy and Marine Distinguished Service Ribbon was established by an Act of Congress and approved on February 4, 1919 and, like the Navy Cross, was made retroactive to April 6, 1917. To receive this ribbon you must perform exceptionally meritorious service to the U.S. Government is a duty of great responsibility. This ribbon is worn on a uniform with gold and silver stars. The ribbons are made to the highest official government standards and uniform approved. All of the ribbons we have featured are unmounted and do not come with a holding bar.
