FILMATION HISTORY
Filmation was one of the last great animation studios based in Southern California in the heart of the Entertainment world. They produced many of the great shows and series of the 1960’s thru 1980’s like Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, He Man & She Ra "Masters of the Universe”, Shazam and many others. They were one of the last animation studios that continued to produce their artwork by hand by some of the best animation artist here in the USA, when everyone was going over seas to reduce cost.
ITEM DESCRIPTION
This is a RARE unique production art animation cel of Rafter the bat from the Ghostbusters animated TV series.
This artwork is a Master Original done by the ink & paint artist to define the colors for the character Rafter.
This Original cel comes first hand from Filmation and is not a reproduction cel or print.
My wife worked in many areas including the production department and as secretary to Lou Scheimer, the president of Filmation,
and knew many of the artist who work on the Ghost Buster series.
This piece was done by the original FIlmation artist some time in the early-mid 1980’s.
“Ghostbusters” animation series ran in 1986 with over 65 episodes.
Captain Long John Scarechrome appears in 18 episodes - the screen shot of the Ghost Galleon in this listing comes from TV episode 59.
