Different times!  Back in the 50s/60s this beautiful decorative fine porcelain set would have been used as cigarette/match holders.   Vibrant flowers and gold rims made these elegant hostess items.  Today these lovely items would be ideal for trinkets and small personal items on a vanity table, or for toothpicks for a buffet.
