The RumRill line of art pottery was made by Red Wing Potteries in Red Wing Minnesota only from 1934 to 1937. The name RumRill was used to distinguish these Red Wing pieces from the typical utilitarian ware for which they had been known for many years.
This vase # 541 has a great art deco - almost architectural - design with 5 separate flaring squared "columns". Overall, it is about 6-1/4 inches tall, 7-1/2 inches wide, and 3-3/4 inches front-to-back at the diamond-shaped base. It was finished with an ivory white glaze on the outside and a dark blue glaze on the interior.
The shape number 541 and "Rum Rill" are in-mold impressed on the bottom.
It is in good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines or crazing. With its 5 "individual" bud vases, it makes a great easy-to-arrange flower holder - and it looks great displayed all on its own!
This is one of my favorite RumRill shapes and a duplicate from my own collection - it's time to move it on to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have.
Ships USPS.
