13.5” French Fashion Style Doll Artist Bisque Head Antique Body Human Hair Wig

This charming 13.5-inch French Fashion style doll features a beautifully crafted artist-made bisque head on an antique composition and wooden body. When I purchased her, I believed I was buying a fully antique doll, as the quality and appearance of the head are remarkably convincing. She has large brown paperweight-style eyes, finely painted features, delicately feathered brows, softly blushed cheeks, pierced ears, and a closed mouth. Her expression is especially appealing and gives her wonderful display presence.

She wears a long human hair wig with abundant hair and lovely color. The wig is somewhat unruly and could benefit from additional styling, but it is full and attractive with plenty of hair to work with.

Her costume is a beautifully made handmade ensemble created by a European doll artisan. The pale blue silk dress and matching jacket feature dark blue trim, decorative buttons, lace cuffs, and a coordinating straw hat. She also wears handmade shoes and stockings that complete the presentation. The outfit is extremely well made and displays beautifully. Please note that the dress fits very tightly through the arms and shoulders and was somewhat difficult to remove for examination and photography.

The antique body shows age and use consistent with its years. There is overall wear to the finish, surface crazing, paint loss, age cracks, and old repairs to both knee areas. One knee repair is more noticeable than the other. The body remains suitable for display, and the doll presents exceptionally well when dressed. The bisque head appears to be free of damage and is nicely finished inside.

This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire an attractive French Fashion style doll with the look of an antique example, combined with a quality artist-made head, antique body, beautiful costume, and excellent cabinet display appeal.

Condition:

Artist bisque head appears free of damage. Human hair wig is full but could benefit from styling. Antique body has age-related wear including crazing, paint loss, cracking, and old repairs, particularly around the knees. Costume is in very good condition overall. Dress fits tightly and should be removed carefully.
