Sweetheart of the Navy is a 1937 American musical comedy about a beautiful and talented young singer who disguises herself as a man to join the Navy in order to be near her sailor boyfriend. Once aboard ship, she must navigate the challenges of military life while trying to keep her true identity a secret, leading to plenty of comedic and romantic complications.
The film is a light-hearted, tuneful service comedy typical of the late 1930s.
It stars Cecilia Parker as the disguised singer, Eric Linden as her boyfriend, and Harriet Hilliard (later known as Harriet Nelson) in a supporting role.
