Stand-In is a 1937 American satirical comedy about a stuffy, numbers-obsessed Wall Street accountant who is sent to Hollywood to evaluate a struggling movie studio for a potential takeover. Once there, he becomes involved with a tough, no-nonsense stand-in actress and a chaotic film production, learning that the movie business is far more unpredictable and human than any balance sheet.

The film is a witty, fast-paced, and very entertaining satire of the Hollywood studio system with sharp dialogue and strong performances.

It stars Leslie Howard as the accountant, Joan Blondell as the stand-in actress, Humphrey Bogart as the studio troubleshooter, and Alan Mowbray as the eccentric director.
