Toronto Maple Leafs Börje Salming 1986-1987 NHL Hockey Jersey

Condition: 8/10. Small repair on the left sleeve (see closeup photo). Otherwise in great gently worn condition.
Börje Salming arrived in Toronto in 1973 as one of the first European players to play a significant role in the NHL. The skepticism about whether Europeans could handle the physical North American game was real and widespread, but Salming answered it so thoroughly that he effectively opened the door for every European player who followed him.
By 1986-87 he had been a Maple Leaf for thirteen years and was still one of the better defensemen on a roster that Harold Ballard had spent the better part of a decade mismanaging into irrelevance. Salming gave Toronto everything he had regardless of what was built around him and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996 and recently passed away in November 2022.
This gem is complete with vintage loop style fight strap and very rare original authentic King Clancy memorial patch sewn to the left sleeve. If you need this rare Leafs style for your collection, snag it now because you may never find another!
