Description

ROBINSON FAMILY GROUP VICTORIAN DAGUERREOTYPES SIXTH & NINTH PLATE c1840's

Period: c1840's

Materials: Leather cases, glass covers & gilt metal mounts.

Size: Sixth plates & Ninth plate.

Dimensions: Cases: Largest; 94mm long x 82mm wide / Smallest; 75mm long x 62mm wide.

Photographers signiture: Beard Patentee & Whitney

Condition: Some minor scuffs to the leather on all the cases, two of the cases covers are detached. Some tarnishing to the images, the smaller Beard ninth plate is more tarnished and faded than the others. Wear commensurate with age and use.

Notes: An excellent group of very nice quality Victorian daguerreotypes of the Robinson family. One of the parents Henry and Lucy Robinson, and various others of the children including one of Joe, Pollie and Hannah together, another of Joe and Pollie, and a further three individual portraits. An unusual one of Pollie stood on a chair. There is also a smaller ninth plate of Sarah Robinson by Richard Beard. It is faded and tarnished, but I think it is possibly the grandmother, and possibly a post mortem dag?
