A Belfast-born actor, director and producer, Branagh erupted onto the world stage with his Shakespearean adaptations, earning Oscar nominations for Henry V (1989) and later for Hamlet, My Week with Marilyn and Belfast. His work has bridged theatre, film and television, and in 2012 he was knighted for services to drama.
