Antique German smoking accessory case. My best guess is this was originally made for a cigarette holder, cigar holder, or pipe accessory.

Based on the construction and markings, this appears to date roughly from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

The interior stamp appears to reference “Bernstein,” which translates to “amber” in German, though I cannot confirm the original intended contents of the case.
