Photo Overview
This original black and white photograph shows British character actor Patrick Allen in close-up, dressed in a smart dark jacket, white shirt and bold geometric tie, taken outdoors in the UK with buildings and a sign in the soft-focus background. The generous white lower margin carries a bold blue ink inscription and autograph from Patrick Allen dedicated “To Bari,” making this a classic hand signed photo ideal for fans of mid-20th-century British stage and screen actors.
Patrick Allen (1927-2006) was a prolific UK film, television and stage actor best known for roles in Hammer horror films, the cult series The Champions, and for his iconic voice-over work, including the original public information film “Protect and Survive.” Authentic vintage signed photos of Allen are scarcer than those of many contemporaries, especially in this earlier era look, so adding this to your collection now is a smart move before it’s snapped up by another classic TV and British cinema enthusiast.
Text Present
Front, lower white margin, blue ink inscription: "To Bari Best wishes Patrick Allen"
Back, top left in pencil: "10"
Back, upper area in pencil: "Patrick ALLEN"
Back, center in blue ink: "Patrick Allen"
Print analysis: Glossy photographic paper with natural tonal range and no halftone dot pattern indicates a true photographic print rather than a litho. The informal ID notes on the reverse and the bold original blue ink dedication on the front are consistent with a publicity or fan photo signed at the time. Styling of Allen’s hair, lapels and tie suggest late 1960s to early 1970s, and the print appears contemporaneous, so this is best classified as a Type 1 original photo, printed within a few years of exposure, likely c1970s.
Condition: Photo is in good to excellent condition. Autograph is hand signed.
