Up for sale is a genuine Goodell Pratt Company Toolsmiths antique hand drill, also known as an egg beater drill, patented March 31, 1896, made in Greenfield, Massachusetts, USA. This is a highly collectible piece of American tool-making history from one of the most respected hand tool manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This hand crank drill features the classic egg beater style design with a large cast iron drive wheel with spoke pattern and toothed outer ring gear, a turned hardwood main handle with mushroom-shaped end cap, a smaller side handle for stabilizing grip, and a knurled metal chuck at the top for holding drill bits. The mechanism is intact and the gears engage as intended. Condition: Used/Antique. Shows age-appropriate patina throughout including surface rust on the cast iron wheel, worn finish on the wooden handle, and general grime consistent with a tool over 125 years old. The wood handles retain their original shape and are solid with no cracks or breaks. The chuck appears functional. This is an honest working antique tool. This drill is a fantastic display piece for a workshop, man cave, or vintage tool collection. Goodell Pratt tools are highly sought after by antique tool collectors and woodworking enthusiasts alike.
