High, Wide and Handsome is a 1937 American musical Western about a rugged oil wildcatter who strikes it rich in Pennsylvania and falls in love with a beautiful circus performer. Together they face hostile rival oil companies, greedy businessmen, and the challenges of building a pipeline through difficult terrain.
The film blends romance, adventure, frontier action, and several memorable musical numbers in a grand, sweeping style.
It stars Irene Dunne as the circus singer Sally Watterson, Randolph Scott as the determined oilman Peter Cortland, and Dorothy Lamour in a supporting role.
