1993 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Ghia

Believed to be the oldest Ghia spec in the UK and very well known to Mondeo Mk1 fans.

Finished in the ultra rare Pumice Gold, the early Ghia spec also features self washing headlamps, electric sunroof, x4 electric windows, tinted windows, cruise control, air conditioning (that works!) and beautiful alloy wheels.

Generally the car is in lovely condition inskde and out, with few marks on the bodywork which comes up lovely in the summer months, and inside, is a joy and super comfortable with no marks.

I have really enjoyed driving it. I paid just under £2000 for it last month and instantly fell in love with it as I had a similar one along time ago. I cannot understate just how gorgeous this car looks and how well it drove!

However, on its maiden voyage under my ownership, the expansion tank began to bubble on the way back from a lovely day out on the North Norfolk coast. About 8 miles from home, it lost all power and came to a halt at the side of the A10. The AA picked us up and took us home and diagnosed a head gasket failure.

My local mechanic came over to look at it, and after spending £900 on a new gasket kit and labour, he diagnosed that the engine’s second cylinder was full of oil, suggesting a bottom end failure and the head block had also cracked. The previous owner and seller must have known there was an issue but chose not to reveal it…
I have no means to fix this and so am reluctantly selling my beautiful Mondeo. It will require a new 2 litre Zetec engine to make it good again, as the original is now not reparable and is in pieces. I have found one at £295 tested and warranted, but as I’ve sunk £2900 into it now, I have to reluctantly call it a day.

Hopefully with someone who knows what they’re doing, this beautiful example can get back onto the road and back to the shows as she loved doing.

All handbooks are available with some history.

I really want this to be saved and repaired, so am not offering it to banger boys for the track - it’s far too good for that.

Viewing welcome, but no test drives of course! You need over 10 positive feedback to bid.

Good luck with your bid!
