These are Octave 4 B and Bb, medieval-style (no clapper) cup bells from the Whitechapel Foundry.

Each are approximately 5" in diameter at the opening. 

Excellent condition overall. The leather straps are marked with the initials "AMS" on both sides. "Made in England" and "The Whitechapel Bell Foundry" are stamped on the inside of each strap. On one side of the handles there is some red discoloration from a piece of tape that had red marker on it that bled through. I believe the handles can be replaced if that is your preference. 

The current cost for these two bells new is over $1,000 USD. I have checked with Whitechapel and they confirm that the bells were produced in the original historic facility, which closed in 2017.

"Bells of Whitechapel Cup Bells are often known as medieval cup bells as they resemble the bells depicted in medieval works of art. Each bell is tuned for its strike note only and not harmonically with all cutting and polished being undertaken on the outside of the bells. This gives a beautifully clear and haunting tone.The bells have no inside clapper mechanism and are rung using an appropriately sized handbell mallet. Sets of Cup Bells are often suspended from racks to allow them to be played by an individual."
