Vintage artisan handman leather costrel, a traditional pilgrim primitive canteen/flask.

Vegetable-tanned leather, molded body with hand saddle-stitched seams. The two holes at the neck are reinforced for a cord or leather strap so that the costrel can be carried over the shoulder or attached to a belt.

The interior shows visible remnants of a dark pitch-style waterproof lining. The aged lining has hardened and crystallized inside the neck opening.

Vintage condition with age and light wear from use. The neck opening has damage around the rim. Surface wear, scuffs, patina, and darkening present. Stitching remains intact. Interior pitch lining is visible. Please review all photos carefully.
