This is an early Stanley No. 45 combination plane. Features such as the wooden knob on the main stock, the cutter adjuster positioned in front of the handle, the threaded arms, and the decorative floral pattern suggest it was made in the mid to late 1890s.
The condition is based on how you view it. If you like a rustic looking antique tool, then this perfect. If you want parts or restoration, then read the below.
What is pictured is what you get - there could be missing pieces/parts that i'm unaware of. I know two thumb screws are missing and no cutters are included. The pieces designed to slide along the arms don't slide and I didn't try very hard to move. It would’ve had a nickel-plate coating but much of that has deteriorated. Obvious rust and some has bitten into the metal but most is surface rust. The other pieces/parts freely turn/move. The wood is quite good, with no splits but a small end tip on the handle is missing.
Please review pictures carefully before purchasing.
